About me

Neal Newman, Ph.D. grew up in New York City, where he attended the H.S. of Music & Art.  He then went to Earlham College, in Richmond, Indiana, where he majored in psychology, and was on the tennis and basketball teams.  After college Neal got his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at Ohio State University.  Neal is now retired from the Ohio State University Counseling & Consultation, but still has a small private practice in Columbus, Ohio.  Neal specializes in performance enhancement, sport psychology and stress management.  His training includes NLP Practitioner Certification, NLP Master Practitioner Certification and NLP Ericksonian Hypnosis Certification.  He also completed the two year Intensive Program in Gestalt Methods at the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland.  Neal is also a tennis player.  He has won 40 USTA national doubles titles, 4 ITF world doubles titles, and has represented the US in international competition numerous times.  He has played on 2 US teams  that won the ITF World Team Championship.  He has been ranked #1 nationally in doubles in multiple age groups and in father-son tennis.  Neal has been inducted into the USTA Midwest Hall of Fame, and is a recipient of the Greater Columbus Tennis Association Lifetime Achievement Award.
